Batik painting is a time-consuming
process. The design or painting is done first on the material with molten
wax. The cloth is then
dipped into or painted with a dye, which adheres to all areas not covered
by the wax. The wax is then removed and the process repeated over again
for each color used.
All of my Batik paintings come from Yogyakarta (Pronounced Jog-ja-karta). On the Indonesian island of Java. Go here for more information about Batik. |
