Flip Flops                                                                       Back

I don't know if campaign promises that aren't kept can be considered Flip Flops, but I do know that a first time president with another election in his future should at least try to live up to some of them. (a lame duck president doesn't have to.) George Bush has kept very few of his during his first term. In fact he has even fought against some of them. He promised to pass a National Patient's Bill of Rights, not only has he not passed one, but sent White House lawyers to fight in the Supreme Court against the very Patient's Bill of Rights, he claimed credit for as governor of Texas. He claimed that though he was against the Kyoto Protocol he would, if elected president, do something about C02 omissions. CO2 is the number one cause of the greenhouse effect. He has since stated that it would be to costly to implement any change in laws affecting C02 & there are more. Just how many promises will he make, then break, this time.

I don't know about you, but I for one don't want to give The War in Iraq:
the terrorist even a little bit of my freedom. That's one
victory they won't get on John Kerry's watch. 1. Ba‘ath  party members will not be allowed in the new

be allowed in both the army & government.

there no difference. There is. Kerry had it right from the 5.  He said he wouldn't negotiate, under any circumstance,

man make. I don't mind, sometimes you have to but

I have a problem with a president that thinks I'm so stupid that I'd buy his ads about John Kerry being a flip flopper when he makes a decision change after new facts come in or a vote as a  protest. when he (George Bush) for political reasons or because events or facts change, does the same.
Oh! no not again. He just called for the creation of a national intelligence director. didn't he use to oppose that?

He promised to get a national patient's bill of rights & has since fought in every way he could to make sure one never gets passed. Going as far as fighting the Texas law he lauded while debating Al Gore.

He claimed he was for responsible government then ran up the largest national debt the United States has ever seen.
He claimed he was going to unite the country not divide it. Yet we are more divided now then I can ever remember. I don't think it was this bad even during the Vietnam War.

8/07/04 CNN: Lou Dobbs stated that George Bush "Adjusted his thinking on the National Intelligence Director having full budgetary control. Isn't adjusting your thinking the same as Flip Flopping? I mean that's what the Republican Party has been saying about John Kerry. Oh! I forgot they're Hippocrates.

8/09/04 CNN: I found out that the last presidential campaign George Bush said he was for the assault weapon ban & would fight to keep it. The ban will end in a few days & he hasn't asked congress to renew it. He knows it won't be brought to the floor. The republican legislature has said that even if the president ask that the bill be renewed they still wouldn't bring it up. A good way to protect the President from having to keep his promise. If he honored his promise he would still ask congress to renew the ban. So by not asking, he's FLIP FLOPPING.

I Just remembered. He didn't think we needed a Dept. of Homeland Security until it was almost a reality then he suddenly thought it was a good idea.

9/24/04 (AP) George Bush decided to lend oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to refineries. This just 6 weeks before the elections. Earlier this year when the price of crude skyrocketed he was asked to tap the same reserve. His answer then was that the reserve was only to be used for a national emergency. A big Flip Flop for political reasons?
More Flip Flops to come.
