Back                                                              Global Warming

Global Warming is real. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that Greenhouse Gases are a problem and that the more of them that are put into the atmosphere the more the problem will increase.
Let's look at what happens. The gasses, (Not unlike the glass in a hot house.) allow light to penetrate to the surface of the earth, where it turns into heat. (Notice how your skin feels when in direct sunlight.) The gasses then hold that heat in the atmosphere. (Heat has a different wave length then light and can't penetrate the gasses as fast.) Hence global warming. These gases are, in part, a bi-product of the burning of fossil fuels.
Compound this with the fact that colors retain heat at different intensities, (Darker colors retain more heat.) so that the less snow (Which reflects light, hence heat, back into space.) there is, the more heat is retained. As the snow pack slowly recedes (Or last a shorter period of time.) the faster the warming will occur.
Now I've watched "Fox News" as they parade all of their so called scientists out to dispute Global Warming & I've heard all the disputes about how the fight against global Warming will cost jobs and cost us our industrial base. How expensive it will be. People most of those scientists that are put on by Fox News have connections to big business and the oil industry and so have a vested interest in finding excuses.
Let's say, for argument sake, that they are right. What harm will it do over the long run, if we go ahead and plan for the worst? So we put up money in the front, won't we gain in the long run. i.e. lower energy bills for heating a well insolated home, less energy bills by buying less fuel for higher mileage cars, cleaner air to breathe, etc
We also have to consider all the jobs that "Going Green." will create. Jobs and technology, technology that we can export to the rest of the world. Wouldn't that be a benefit to our overall economy?

Let's look at some facts that are already apparent
   1. Open water at the North Pole for the first time ever recorded.
   2. Record highs being broken almost every day.
   3. Shrinking land mass of Antarctica, well ice mass
   4. Greenland's shrinking glaciers
Some things I've noticed that may or may not be a result of Global Warming.
   l. Stronger and more persistent Hurricanes.
   2. More and more powerful Tornados, with the season starting sooner and lasting longer.
   3. Less frequent snow storms in the northeast along with milder winters
   4. More heat waves in the northeast during the summer.
     More coming.
