Hulmeville Borough, originally known as Milford Mills was renamed to honor John Hulme Jr. a leading industrialist who purchased the village in 1795. In 1814 he established, in Hulmeville, the Farmer's National Bank, the first bank in Bucks County Pa. At that time, the community located on the banks of Neshaminy Creek was a leading center of industry.
Going back in time to the American Revolution, General George Washington camped his troops within three miles of the village.
A great group of merchants are bringing this little town back to life. building on the models of New Hope & Lambertville they have set up shop and though they have only been at it for a few years now, They have a coffee shop: five or six gift and antique shops, two auctions and a restaurant. Now, while Hulmeville is still young, is the time to find bargains on unique gift items.
I had mentioned earlier that Hulmeville sits on Neshaminy Creek well it's also not very far from the Neshaminy Shore Picnic Park a place you may also want to visit.
