12/12/04: (CNN) WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- The Bush administration is scrutinizing intercepted telephone conversations that International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei had with Iranian diplomats in search of ammunition to oust him from his post, The Washington Post reported on Sunday. The newspaper said it showed the lengths to which some in the administration are going to try to replace a top international diplomat who questioned Washington's actions in Iraq and on the Iran nuclear issue. It seems that if you disagree with the administration they'll come after you. Now do you really trust the administration with the Patriot's Act.
12/14/04: (CNN) WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Bush administration is opposing the re-appointment of Mohammed ElBaradei as head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. See above. The biggest problem the Bush administration has is that ElBaradei was right about Iraq's WMDs.
12/13/04: (CNN) LAGOS, Nigeria (CNN) -- Kojo Annan, the son of U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, says he had no involvement in the troubled Iraqi oil-for-food program that has drawn both men into multiple investigations. Cotecna hired Annan to work in West Africa shortly after he graduated from a British university. The firm says his job involved pre-shipment inspections of goods in Nigeria and Ghana, the native countries, respectively, of his mother and father. They divorced when he was a child. So far there has been no evidence of wrong doing against either Kojo or his father but that hasn't stopped the republicans from making unfounded allegations against them. Kofi Annan made the mistake of disagreeing with the Bush administration on it's war in Iraq. Again Kofi Annan seems to have been right. Again the administration seems to have been wrong. Again the administration is going after someone who disagreed with them. It may turn out that Kofi Annan was involved in something illegal but don't you think we should find out the facts before we start attacking someone? Remember Sandy Burger.
12/31/04: (CNN) House ethics panel chief could be replaced. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Rep. Joel Hefley's days as chairman of the House ethics committee may be numbered. After co-authoring an admonishment of Majority Leader Tom DeLay, the Republican from Colorado is on House Speaker Dennis Hastert's list of chairmen likely to be replaced when Congress begins its new session on Tuesday. "It is our responsibility to uphold a high ethical standard," said DeLay's Democratic counterpart, Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California. "Removing a chair of the Ethics Committee for upholding that standard would be a stain on the House of Representatives." This guy is a Republican who takes his job seriously. Have the Republicans no honor?
