1. Shoot kids the way they are:
1a. I took one of my better photos by accident, A mother at the gym where I worked for awhile ask me to take some photo's of her little girl in her communion dress. It was white with a lace veil. The photo showed the lace (every hole) Contrast and lightning were perfect, she looked like a little angel. Only after printing this great photo did I notice her fingernails. They were full of dirt. So I had a photo of an angel with dirty nails. That's a child.
1b.Kids have dirty faces, That's alright:  Below Left & Center
2.  Get down on the child's level: (Remember the eyes)  above Right.
