Back Lies and Misstatements:
1. Barack Obama: I recently received an e-mail stating that Barack was a Muslim that refused to salute the flag and had taken his oath of office on the Koran. The writer had said that they had gotten the information from Snopes.com and that you could check it out yourself by clicking on his link and had created that link for you. The only problem was that his link lead you to an "About blank" page. I knew about the rumors and decided to take him up on his offer and went to the real http://www.snopes.com website only to find out that they disputed all the information that he had given and gave you the real facts. Click on Politics then Barack Obama.
Many, if not most, of the recipients of this e-mail will click on his link and figure that he just made a mistake in adding the link but that since he tried, he must be telling them the truth and will go no further in trying to find it. They may then tell friends or forward it on to their friends and the lies will spread.
2. I just heard George Bush stand on stage and take credit for the new G.I. Bill, A bill that had to be added to the Iraq War Supplemental in order to get it through. (Bush had previously promised to veto it.) He not only took credit for a bill he didn't like but also gave credit to John McCain, who also opposed it.
3. This one is just plain stupid: One of the reporters on Fox News mentioned that scientists had recently discovered DDT in the fat cells on penguins. Then he stated that DDT could save hundreds of thousands of people from malaria in the tropics and said. "I say the heck with penguins." or something on that order.
People before going on read this from the Dept. of Health & Human Services.
Now considering the risks of it's use and even weighing them against the loss of life from malaria. (Which can be reduced greatly by just a pesticide treated sleeping net - malaria is carried by female Anopheles Mosquitoes, which bite only at night).
I have to wonder, where did this reporter think the DDT in the fat came from? (We stopped using DDT in the U.S. in 1980, though it still used in small amounts in the tropics) Remember that though it is nearly insoluble in water, it is soluble in organic solvents, fats and oils. It had to come from the small fish that the penguins eat. Now, we and many animals and other birds also eat fish and larger fish eat smaller fish and the more they eat the more DDT their bodies retain. How long (If we go back to wide spread use of DDT) before we really poison our food supple. Remember that after the banning of DDT the American Bald Eagle population returned to normal. Prior to that their eggs would break when they sat on them. (Eagles eat fish) I wish Fox News would research the topics they report on before making stupid statements. Here's another article on DDT.
4. 07/09/08: On Hannity & Colmes Rudy Giuliani said that "France gets 80% of it's power from nuclear and we only get 20%. He's right of course but compare the size and population of the two countries. I'll classify this as a misleading statement.
5. 130 Republicans voted "Present" on an Iraqi Spending Bill. Didn't the Republicans and Hennity complain about Barrack voting present as a state senator. Funny how Hennity Flip Flops according to which party does something.
6. Hennity is always asking people if they can name anything Obama has done since he got to the Senate. If you'd like to answer him check the Senate record Here. Then check out their records under "Browse bills by Sponsor" I'd say Barrack sponsoring 126 bills to 38 for McCain makes Hennitys' question seem ridiculous.
| Also Hennity & McCain are always talking about how Obama has been to only one meeting of the Committee on Foreign Relations of which he is a member, what they don't mention is that McCain hasn't attended any of the meetings of the Senate Armed Service Committee of which he is the top Republican.
