Back Macaque
Sean Hannity: of Fox's Hannity and Combs tried to compare the statement of Senator George Allen (R. Va.) Where he called a camera man from his opposition a Macaca (A long tailed crab eating monkey), to Joe Biden saying you can't go into a 7-11 in his state of Delaware unless you have an Indian accent and Hillary Clinton's statement that Mahatma Gandhi once owing a gas station.
I didn't see the statement by Hillary Clinton but she said it laughingly and with no venom. She later apologized. What she said was wrong but a mistake meant in a friendly way. It was a joking way to say that Indian immigrants are doing very well in business in America.
I did see Joe Biden's statement. He started out praising Indian Americans for their contributions to our country. He was talking to an acquaintance and supporter and said that Indians had done very well in America. Many were C.E.O.s of major companies and many owned their own businesses. "In my state of Delaware most of the 7-11 are owned by Indians. In fact you can't go into a 7-11 in Delaware unless you speak with an Indian accent. He said this while smiling and shaking the man's hand. Not at all vicious.
As for Allen's statement. I saw it live on C-Span's road to the White House, when they were running a live feed from a fund raiser for Allen. He looked right at the man and said:
"This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, Macaca or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent, he's following me around everywhere. So welcome, let's give a welcome to Macaca here. Welcome to America, and the real world of Virginia."
Like I said I was watching the fundraiser and though Allen was smiling, it wasn't a friendly smile. Like I was told when in Bangkok. "There are several types of smiles in Thailand and only one of them is friendly." What I saw was a man full of hate because his opponent was filming his fundraiser and I saw a bully. If you don't believe me do a search on Yahoo for Macaca and you can find a video of the fund raiser and the statement. Judge for yourself. Al
6/18/06: I just watched the Virginia Senatorial debate and when Senator Allen was asked about the remark He told the announcer that he didn't know that the word "Macaca" would offend anyone. He never heard the word before, he just made it up. Right! Ok, so he got angry but you can't tell me he didn't know what he was saying. You don't just call some one a Macaca (Long tailed monkey) especially a person from India, where the monkey lives by accident. So now I consider George Allen not only a hot-head but also a liar. Al
10/9/06 Now we find out more he didn't report stock options he was suppose to report to congress for the past 5 years.
RICHMOND, Va. - For the past five years, Sen. George Allen, has failed to tell Congress about stock options he got for his work as a director of a high-tech company. The Virginia Republican also asked the Army to help another business that gave him similar options.

He is using a swift boat ad against James Webb. Using women in an ad about a paper he wrote titled "Woman can't fight." in 1979. Allen is pushing hard on the opinion Webb held 27 years ago when that opinion was widely held. He doesn't mention that since that time Webb has created many openings for women in the military including positions in Combat. We are all allowed to change our minds as we grow. To bad Allen who was a raciest in his youth hasn't changed. See Macaque. Al
