Back:                                             Misleading Statements on Security

Bill Fritz at a fundraiser for the Republican Senate candidate, that was covered on C-Span, made a statement that al-Qa'ida had attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, then attacked us again two years later in Lebanon, then again two years later when they attacked the Colbar Towers then a year later they attacked the U.S.S. Cole and then two years later we had 9-11 but that since that time we haven't had an attack on American soil.
OK. So his facts are right but his implications are misleading. He was implying that since we were being attacked on a regular basis throughout the decade and haven't had an attack (On American soil.) that the Bush administration has been doing a great job.
I'd like to point out that the only two attacks on American Soil. (Both on the World Trade Center.) were in fact eight years apart. As for the other attacks they didn't happen on American soil and we have been receiving attacks on our troops almost weekly since we went into Iraq.
He neglected to inform the gathering that al Qa'ida had called off an attack on the New York subway system. Read the "One Percent Doctrine." Or the other attacks around the western world. i.e. Bali (A western resort area) attacked twice; Jakarta; Egypt; Italy: The railroad attacks in both Spain and Great Britain, and other smaller attacks.
Meanwhile 5 years since the attack of 9/11 and we still haven't implemented all the recommendations of the 9/11 commission. I've watch the Republicans in both the Congress and the Senate defeat every amendment the Democrats have put forth to upgrade the National Security. People we are going to be attacked again and we had better be ready.
