Back                                            New Orleans needs our help:

Hurricane Katrina slammed ashore just east of New Orleans and though the city missed the storm surge and the eye wall it didn't escape extreme, no catastrophic damage. The flooding that has devastated New Orleans came when the levees along Lake Pontchartrain were breached.
The Mayor of New Orleans said on 8/31 that possibly thousands have died. There is no way of knowing at this time exactly how many lives have been lost to Katrina and we can't do anything for them now except find them, bury them and pray for their souls. What we can and must do now is help the living. When our fellow man needs our help we must, if we consider ourselves human, go to their aid.
I have watched, with tears in my eyes, as people were pulled to safety only to tell of friends and loved ones who will never be saved. They told of dead or missing relatives, neighbors and friends. I saw photos of bodies floating in the polluted water that covers most of the city. Their homes are gone, their neighborhoods gone, and for most their lives are gone.
New Orleans isn't alone. This scenario is playing out in many, many cities and towns through out the south. And our fellow man needs our help.
We did a fantastic job when we came to the aid of the victims of the Tsunami in South-East Asia. Let's do no less for our own.            Al..
