| The Debates: Back | |||
| These are probably the best way for you to get to know the candidates don't miss them. In fact I recommend that you not only watch them but that you record them. If you do you'll be able to go back & check the statements that were made & questions that were answered. Don't take the answers or statements as fact. Go to a library or on line & verify them. You may be surprised. In the debate with Al Gore, George Bush claimed credit for the Texas Patient's Bill of Rights A bill that he vetoed as governor of Texas. He then allowed it to go into law, but he refused to sign it, after it came back to his desk veto proof. Things like these may show more about a man then his having all of the right answers. It wasn't reported except once on CNN if I hadn't noticed that report I wouldn't have even known about it. He has since had White House lawyers fight against that same law in the Supreme Court. | |||
| First Remember this is not a sporting event. It's not who wins or loses the debate. It's the information you get out of candidates. I say this because both candidates have been jockeying for position. Republican's saying Kerry is a great debater & though Bush may stumble over some words he'll still get his message out. The Democrats saying that George Bush has never lost a debate. It's not who you'd want to have a beer with or who has the best stage presence or vocabulary. It's who has the best ideas for the direction of the country. | |||
| First Debate | Edwards/Chaney | 2nd. Debate | 3rd. Debate |
| Leading up to the debates the Republican Party has been saying that George Bush serving as President & Governor before that has had very little recent debating experience & that John Kerry being a senator has had many, many debates on the senate floor. They are right. Now will they take back their earlier statements that John Kerry has done nothing while in the senate. Not counting all the debates he participated in, he also served on many committees and along with John McCain helped to end the Vietnam prisoner of war controversy which normalized relations with that country. Republicans, will you please start to tell the truth to the American people. | |||
