The forth of July
by Al Grove
The sun came up, it's the forth of July,
there are going to be fireworks in the sky
If you look up in the sky you'll see
beautiful explosions for you and me
The fireworks represent who we are
of battles we won both near and far
On July the forth, in seventeen seventy six
we picked up guns and we picked up sticks
We wrote a paper that said we were free
and we posted copies on every tree,
In Boston and Philly and New York City
England didn't listen, that was a pity.
So many died on both sides of the fight
Some battle fields were a ghastly sight
There were battles in Trenton and on Bunker Hill
In Princeton and Concord their troops we'd kill
The war went on for a long, long, time
before we could call the country "mine."
So the fireworks represent the cannon fire
that was caused by all the build up ire
Because the way we were ruled by the English King
our constitution is a living thing
One that belongs to you and I
one we should cherish till the day we die.
