Visas                                                            Back
.
I'm not going to talk about all Visas. If your that interested in staying for an extended period of time check with the Indonesian embassy in your local area.
There are many different types of visas you may obtain:  If you enter Indonesia at a designated point of entry, (All airports are such, as are ports where cruise ships enter.) you will not be required to have/get a visa, Your Passport will be stamped with a visitors' stamp. As a tourist you may stay up to 60 days maximum and may be able to get an extension.
The way most of the people I met got around this little (time) problem (many had done it several time in succession) was to leave the country for twenty four hours then return and get a new entry stamp/visa. (You must obtain a visa if you enter at a point that is not considered a official entry point. "Bali is".) Most of my acquaintances went to Singapore, though you could go anywhere you wanted.
.
Types of visas that are available are:
Business Visas - Visitor's Visa - Tourist Visa - Work Visa - If you stay over three months you must register as an alien. Check with embassy officials if this turns out to be the case
.
                                                                   Other papers you'll need:
.
1. A passport valid for at least six months after arrival in Indonesia.
2. An onward ticket out of Indonesia or a letter confirming the purchase of such a ticket.
3. Immunization certificates: Only if coming, (Within six days) from an area where Yellow fever has broken out.
Though you may want to talk to your personal physician about immunizations and boosters. Although Bali is
basically very Safe, I would recommend at least you update your Tetanus shot.
4. An international driver's license if you plan to rent a car
5. The last and maybe most important papers, other then your passport are the green sheets of paper with photo's
of past American presidents on them/or the equivalent  in Travel checks. I'd advise you to bring as much as you
can afford. Not because Bali or other parts of Indonesia are expensive they're definitely not, but because you will
see so many gorgeous things that you'll want to take home and in order to so will need those little pieces of
    paper.

Did you know that AAA not only can take care of your International driver's license but will give you any amount
of American Express Travelers checks free of charge, if you'rea member. It's worth joining just for the checks.
